The European Day of Languages
In Bulgaria
Erasmus Days have become a major European celebration of international mobility and intercultural exchange. Erasmus Days 2020 took place on the 15,16,17 October.
A discourse for the European union member states, a language competition and a workshop were held within these days with the students from 5”g” grade. These events were organized and led by Meglena Hristova, the school coordinator for European projects.
As a beneficiary of the Erasmus+ programme Vazrazhdane Secondary school has three international projects implemented over the years and two currently operating.
The young students were introduced the partner schools from the past and present projects. They learned more about the official symbols – the flag, coat of arms, capital and location on the map of Europe.
The language game included learning five words in five European languages and making a poster with the words. The children heard how the words – Hello, Thank you, Goodbye, School, Smile – sound, saw how they are spelled in English, Polish, Turkish and Macedonian.
These words were selected for the purpose of the project MIND your health, releated to positive attitudes and mental health of the children.
The game, Guess the flag of the European country, aroused great interest. It presented the flags of the European union and nine partner countries – Hungary, Italy, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Lithuania, Turkey and North Macedonia.
During the workshop the students made a poster with the words in five European languages - a multicolored message illustrating the motto of the European union – United in diversity.

In North Macedonia
Even though the world is facing Covid-19 pandemia our project has continue by organizing online activities and events. In our school ‘’Nevena Georgieva – Dunja’’ Skopje, students participated in celebration of European Day of Languages and Erasmus+ days.
The Day of Languages was celebrated by online zoom meeting and by creating videos using different digital tools.
Ersamus days were celebrated by an online debate about European values, opportunities and experiences that our students and teachers have gained in the past 4 years. We have made a survey at school about benefits and outcomes that are already visible in the teaching process. Also we invited students who play musical instruments to participate in our activity because music was the topic. Music as a relaxing technique.
